This October, the “2018 International Dairy Federation (IDF) World Dairy Summit (WDS)” concluded its four-day schedule in Daejeon Convention Center.
IDF 2018 was held from October 15–18 under the theme, “Dairy for the Next Generation.” The four-day event thrived with 500 guests from IDF’s 52 member nations visiting Daejeon, along with 1,000 participants nationwide.
Before the actual summit, the four days—from October 11 to 14—were alloted for IDF members and industry relations running business meetings and networking sessions. It was an important opportunity to check the trend change in the global dairy industry.
The 2018 IDF WDS proceeded with topic speeches from 120 renowned speakers, sectioned into 8 conferences and 37 sessions.
The opening ceremony of October 15 began with the World Leaders Forum and the IDF Forum, introducing the schedule of the eight separate conferences for the next four days: ▲Dairy Policies and Economics; ▲Farm Management; ▲Science and Technology of Fermented Milk; ▲Marketing; ▲Food Safety; ▲Environment; ▲Nutrition and Health; ▲Animal Health and Welfare, and three special sessions; ▲School Milk for the Future; ▲ICT Smart Farm; and ▲Fermented Dairy: Health Benefits.
Social events were a surplus as well, from the National Day to promote the beauty and flavors of Korea to overseas participants, to the Gala Dinner of the 17th as the climax of the event. In the 17th Gala Dinner, the silver key that represents the hosting country of next year’s event was handed to Turkey.
An official of the Korea Dairy Committee mentioned, “Korea hosting the 2018 IDF WDS and being chosen over nations with more advanced dairy industries is very meaningful to us because it means that the international society is recognizing our rapid growth in the industry despite the short history.”
